Estar acostumado com algo; acostumar-se com algo. Com se fala em Inglês? (be/get used to something)

I am used to it

Primeiro vamos dar uma olhada no exemplo abaixo:

Ricardo is a Brazilian, but he lives in Australia. When he first drove a car in Australia, he found it very difficult because he had to drive on the left, not on the right. Driving on the left was strange and difficult for him because:

He wasn’t used to it.
He wasn’t used to driving on the left.

But after a lot of practice, driving on the left became less strange because. So:
He got used to diving on the left.

Now, it’s no problem for Ricardo:
he is used to driving on the left.

I’m used to something: estou acostumado com algo:
Mais alguns exemplos abaixo:

Mark lives alone. He doesn’t mind this because he has lived alone for 10 years. It is not strange for him.
He is used to it. He is used to living alone. (ele está acostumado com isso. Ele está acostumado a morar sozinho.)

Martha has a new job. She has to get up much earlier now than she had before – at 6:00. She finds it difficult because she isn’t used to getting up so early.
(ela não está acostumada a levantar tão cedo)

Após be/get used to não usar o verbo no infinitivo infinitivo (live, drive, etc.), mas sim, o verbo com ing:
He is used to driving on the left. (e não He is used to drive)

Não confunda I’m used to doing com I used to do:

I am used to doing something = estou acostumado com algo:
am used to the weather in Argentina.
I am used to driving on the left because I lived in Britain a long time.

I used to do something = eu costumava fazer algo. Você utiliza isso para falar de passado, sobra algo que fazia regularmente em algum momento no passado:
I used to drive to work everyday, but these days I usually go by bike.
(Eu costumava dirigir para o trabalho todos os dias, mas atualmente costumo ir de bicicleta.)

Abraços!
